Kaiser partners with Microsoft's HealthVault

Kaiser Permanente announced that it is partnering with Microsoft's HealthVault personal health records platform to offer its members a way to manage their own health data.  A Kaiser employee pilot is planned before a full rollout of the service at a later date.

University patient data breach affects tens of thousands

Computer backup tapes with patient information were stolen form a storage company used by the University of Miami.  Officials are preparing to notify 47,000 affected patients.

A hospital employee in New York has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of fraud and stolen property offenses after nearly 50,000 patient records were breached.

HMO mistakenly exposes patient data online

A dental HMO in the Maryland area accidentally exposed the personal information of 75,000 patients in late February. Twenty days after discovering the error, the company notified those affected. The company has since announced that to its knowledge no one has misused the information.
