CMS has launched its Physician Compare website at http://www.medicare.gov/find-a-doctor

In the coming years, shortages of healthcare professionals are at issue.  The nursing shortage is well documented and set to worsen. A shortage of general surgeons in rural areas of the United States is also being noted.
