CMS publicizes HospitalCompare results
Health & Human Services is spending millions of dollars on an ad campaign to promote its HospitalCompare website. The ads will feature survey results from selected organizations and various versions will run in markets throughout the country.
On Monday, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced that it will run ads in 58 markets across the country, showing the results of hospitals on a couple of survey measures. To tout its HospitalCompare website, CMS is spending $1.9 million. The ads began appearing in major daily newspapers yesterday.
The move is in line with Health & Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt's desire to have the site push consumers to shop for health care as well as the recognition that health care is trending in this direction.
