Kaiser will launch an independent news service in 2009
The Kaiser Family Foundation is launching an independent news service that will report on health care policy and other health care issues. Kaiser plans to begin the service in 2009.

In 2009, the Kaiser Family Foundation will launch Kaiser Health News (KHN). The aim of the venture is to provide health care related reporting and articles about policy changes in healthcare. The site will be free and will feature video interviews of healthcare figures, multimedia features and industry news columns.

Kaiser Health News will be headquartered at Kaiser's Washington, D.C. building and be headed by two veteran journalists who have spent years covering health care. Laurie McGinley, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter and editor, is the former deputy bureau chief for global economics and national health care policy correspondent at The Wall Street Journal. Peggy Girshman, an Emmy-winning editor and producer, is a former managing editor of National Public Radio and an executive editor at Congressional Quarterly.KaiserNetwork will be merged into this new website.
