Kaiser Permanente announced on Wednesday the installation of 90 self-service kiosks in more than 60 medical clinics in Southern California. The units are designed to speed up the check-in process for patients. The kiosks have privacy features, multiple language interfaces and card readers that can read standard issue medical cards.
According to Kaiser, a survey of test users revealed that 80 percent felt the kiosk was faster than check-in with a receptionist. Additional functionality is scheduled for the kiosks and a nationwide rollout for the units has tentatively been planned.
